Destiny Finds A Way
If it is meant to be, it will be
It was sometime in the last century. The date was April 11th. I remember the date and the scene very clearly — like it happened just yesterday. The date and what happened next anchored me for life.
That day was a bright, sunny, and clear day — a typical beautiful day in Bangalore.
I was standing at the corner of my college road, waiting for a friend. We were supposed to meet there. My faithful transport, a TVS XT was parked by the footpath. All was right with the world.
Meanwhile another friend, let’s call him K, rode along on his Kawasaki RTZ. He saw me and stopped. K was a good friend back then. I’ve lost touch with him since then. Pity — because he played a pivotal role in my life. He did not know that back then. Nor did I.
Before K got off his bike to talk to me, I noticed another boy getting off from the pillion. I had not met him earlier. K saw the surprised look on my face and introduced me to his pillion rider.
“Hey Anu, meet N. N meet my friend Anu. N and I live close by, so I am giving him a ride home.”
I smiled at N. He seemed like a pleasant boy. I could be friends with him, I thought in my mind.
K and I continued chatting until the friend I was waiting for showed up.
K and N waved goodbye and zoomed off.
7 years later, N and I were married. As I write this today, it has been 28 years since our wedding. Life with N is perfect.
Maybe I would have met N even if K had not introduced us. Destiny finds a way. For us though, K was the catalyst. He was not aware of his critical role in that moment in both our lives. Hope he is well, wherever he is today.
As for N and I — we grow stronger in our relationship each day.
This memory was triggered in response to a prompt in some other forum. The prompt is to write about a moment in life which led to something significant.
